Your Coach

Hi there and welcome to The PA Zone! I am a NYS Licensed Physician Assistant currently practicing Family Medicine and Physiatry. Married to a NYC DOH Economist and mom to 2 beautiful girls who inspire me to be my best every single day.

I graduated from SUNY Downstate PA Program in 2015 as the Class President of 2015 with multiple certifications and a Research Award. Two weeks before graduation, I accepted my first job as an internal Medicine PA – right at Downstate! I believed in paying it forward then and continue to carry this belief now. I got married, had my first born and returned to Family Medicine- a specialty I was so passionate about since my clinical year. Family medicine has given me the opportunity to play a vital role in my patients’ continuous well-being at the frontlines of medicine. But most importantly, it has allowed me to maintain a healthy work life balance and continue mentoring PA students.

In 2019, after having my second child, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and practice in a specialty that was completely different than Family Medicine or what I was exposed to during clinical year. I found that eagerness in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation also known as Physiatry. Better understanding the human body, its anatomy and pathophysiology as we help patients gain back their independence through multiple different treatment modalities has been gratifying.

I am a first generation PA. Despite the South Asian community not knowing much about the PA profession when I was applying, I chased my dreams to become a Physician Assistant with the support of my family. The PA profession has grown so much since then and it truly is an amazing career choice. So I encourage you to do the same and remain motivated in pursuing what your heart is passionate about!

Some other fun facts about me- I am the middle child, I have an older sister who is an MD and a younger brother who pursued a career in private equity. My parents are immigrants and left everything back home to provide us with the ‘American Dream.’ They worked tirelessly but somehow never overlooked us growing up. When I’m not working or mentoring, I enjoy reading, taking trips and baking!

I was not accepted to PA school on my first try and I know how frustrating that is- first hand. But with that setback, I was able to learn the techniques to better prepare as a prospective student. Throughout my years of PA school and practice, I have continued to provide guidance to aspiring PA’s. My motivation to help students like you arises from not having that mentoring myself when I was applying. Being the first in my direct and extended family to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant- I had no answers. But with perseverance came success.

I created The PA Zone to help students- anywhere!  I hope your click on The PA Zone is a prosperous one.
